After many years, Apple has finally opened its Online Store to Malaysians. The Malaysia Apple Store sells the usual assortment of Macs, iPods and accessories. Services like engraving and education pricing is also now available. Prices are reasonable and shipping is free for all purchases over RM250.

Well, you can scratch the Apple Mac Pro and Xserve off your Macworld Keynote Bingo card. A week before Macworld, Apple released updated versions of these high-end units. The Mac Pro now features twin Quad-Core Intel Xeon 5400 processors, up to 4TB of storage (four bays of 1TB each), up to 32GB of RAM, and new graphics options.

Now that we are very close to the year end, Macworld is just around the corner! We still don’t know for sure what Apple has up its sleeve for the annual Apple consumer expo. Here are some interesting tidbits in the Apple world :
- According to AppleInsider, Apple will adopt Intel’s UltraMobile PC (UMPC) platform for new devices. Apple will probably use Intel’s Silverthorne processor for new versions of the iPhone and maybe for the oft-rumoured tablet PC.
- Speaking of the iPhone, how many units have been sold so far? Expect Steve Jobs to announce it in January. With the iPhone selling (fairly) well in the US, UK, Germany and France, 9to5Mac predicts that Apple will announce 5 million units of iPhones sold.
- Who else is interested in using Macs? According to this article from Forbes magazine, the American military is working to integrate Macs into their technology infrastructure. The reason? Security, of course.
Apple Inc has announced another solid round of financial results for the previous quarter. Macs are still selling well, despite the fact that Apple no longer has the word “Computer” in its name. Apple sold 2.164 million Macs and 10.2 million iPods. They sold 1.119 million iPhones during the quarter, bringing the total to almost 1.4 million. That’s still far away from their target of 10 million iPhones, but it’s a good start.
It’s update week at Apple. They have released a new update for the three iWork ’08 applications : Pages, Keynote and Numbers. All 3 updates address performance issues, among other things.
