Apple iPhone price drop, 4GB to be phased out

September 6th, 2007 morituri2

Just a little over 2 months after the iPhone was released, Apple has announced a welcome price cut. You can now pick up an 8GB iPhone for just $399 (from $599) and the 4GB is now discontinued. It’s a very aggressive move by Apple, probably prompted in part by their new iPod touch. Now for $399, you have your choice of an 8GB iPhone, or a 16GB iPod touch with WiFi.

Expect early adopters to moan about the price cut. Well, you had 2 months of being the coolest kid on the block. If you bought your iPhone after August 22nd, then try to get your $200 back thanks to Apple’s refund policy.

The lower price for the iPhone means that the hacking can get even more fast and furious now. And can a 16GB iPhone be far behind?
