New iPod coming September 9?
Apple has announced an event dubbed “Let’s Rock”, scheduled for 9th September 2008 in San Francisco. It’s widely speculated that Apple will introduce a new version of the iPod nano, which will have a larger and wider screen.
The timing is certainly right for new iPods. It’s just early days of the back-to-school season and people are starting to plan purchases for the year-end holiday season.
Other than the new iPod nano, we are also expecting a revision (or at least, a price revision of the iPod touch. With the iPhone now available at US$200, the prices for the iPod touch range should be lower as well.
Kevin Rose of Digg is also predicting a new version of iTunes, with some new features including new visualization and possibly support for HD tv shows.
Another thing to note about this event is whether Apple CEO will make an appearance. News of his ill health has been widespread; I hope he is in better shape now compared to WWDC back in July.
It’s just 3 more days to go — let’s hope Apple surprises and delights us.
