New iPods!
We speculated (again) and Apple delivered (again). In Apple’s “The Beat Goes On” Special Event yesterday, Steve Jobs unveiled a completely refreshed line of iPods. We get new iPod shuffles in brand new colours, iPod nano with video, iPod “classic” with larger capacities, and the new iPhone-esque iPod touch.
Here’s the new line-up:
iPod shuffle
- brand new colours
- 1GB ($79)
iPod nano
- the rumoured “fat nano” with a brighter, larger 2-inch, 320×240 resolution screen
- now with Cover Flow and video support
- 4GB ($149) and 8GB ($199)
iPod classic
- the “normal” iPod renamed as classic
- 2.5-inch 320×240 resolution screen
- 80GB ($249) and 160GB
iPod touch
- the iPhone without the phone
- 3.5 inch 320×480 resolution screen
- with WiFi (b/g)
- 8GB ($299) and 16GB ($399)
Apple also announced the iTunes WiFi Store, where you can browse, buy and download songs direct to your iPod touch. The Apple iPhone will also get this feature via a later software update.
