Apple has released the upgraded versions of its high end MacBook Pro notebooks. The new 15-inch MacBook Pro models are now lighter and feature longer battery life, thanks to energy savings from the Intel Santa Rosa chipsets and new LED-backlit screens. The 17-inch MacBook Pro have an optional, higher resolution 1920-by-1200 screens. The resolution upgrade is $100 more.
Aside from the new Santa Rosa chipset, the refreshed MacBook Pro line has standard 2GB RAM, new NVIDIA GeForce 8600M GT with 256MB GDDR3 memory and a slot-load 8x SuperDrive with double-layer support. Prices remain the same, starting at US$1999 for the 15.4-inch with LED-backlit display, 2.2 GHz Intel Core 2 Duo processor and 120GB hard drive.
