30 years of Apple, 5 years of Mac OS X
March 25th, 2006
Next week, on April 1st, Apple celebrates its thirtieth anniversary. AP has a short retrospective on the history of out favourite company, and we should see more of the same from various sources soon. Over at Arstechnica, John Siracusa takes a look at Five years of Mac OS X.
It’s amazing how time flies – I remember the first, frustratingly slow and resource-hungry version of Mac OS X. Every successive version of the OS since then has come up with both performance and feature improvements. With the new Intel Macs, Mac OS X literally flies. Since Microsoft’s Vista will be further delayed, expect Mac OS X 10.5 (Leopard) to maintain leadership in the consumer OS space.
