
Before Macworld, there was a lot of speculation as to what would be the first Mac to sport the new Intel chips. The most-mentioned models were the low end ones, i.e. the Mac mini and iBook. The new MacBook Pro is certainly a surprise in a few ways.

Everyone excited yet? The Macworld Conference and Expo is scheduled for next week, and the Mac world is buzzing with speculation. The Macworld conference program is from January 9-13, while the exhibit hall (featuring 300 companies) opens from January 10-13. Both events will be held at the Moscone Center in San Francisco.

Macintouch has released their report on iBook and PowerBook reliability. Over the course of the study, they logged data regarding over 10,000 laptops and have incorporated thousands of comments. The report is very comprehensive, complete with charts and analysis.

Apple has released a couple of new updates for Mac OS X. Bluetooth Firmware Update for Mac OS X 10.4.3, improves Bluetooth performance and reliability issues. The Airport Extreme Firmware Updater 5.7 addresses a DoS security issue, reliability and resolves issues with AirTunes, AirPort compatibility, and issues with some third party Routers.
