Introducing Apple MacBook Pro
Before Macworld, there was a lot of speculation as to what would be the first Mac to sport the new Intel chips. The most-mentioned models were the low end ones, i.e. the Mac mini and iBook. The new MacBook Pro is certainly a surprise in a few ways.
For one, the new name is almost wholely unexpected. Apple portables have sported the Powerbook name since the first Sony-developed model, and have always been acknowledged as the best notebooks in the industry. I don’t really like the name MacBook Pro (it really doesn’t have the same ummph) but it does imply that an iBook replacement is coming, most probably called – the MacBook.
Steve Jobs revealed two models of the MacBook Pro today, both sporting the new Intel Core Duo processor. The Apple MacBook Pro MA090LL/A has a 1.67 GHz Intel Core Duo processor, 512 MB RAM and 80 GB Hard Drive. The Apple MacBook Pro MA091LL/A has a 1.83 GHz Intel Core Duo, 1 GB RAM, and 100 GB Hard Drive.
