So how much does the mighty mac mini cost to build? According to this News.com article, the estimated total cost of the mac mini components come up to US$274.69.
Research firm iSuppli dissected the mac mini and remarked : “To cut costs, Apple adopted a number of technologies and components from the PC world. The optical disk drive, for instance, is a standard laptop unit. The chipset has also been reduced from two pieces of silicon into one.”
After many decades of the one-button mouse, Apple has finally done what was previously thought to be impossible : produce the Mighty Mouse. Despite the price (US$49 retail), early indications show that it’s a runaway success, with many Apple Stores sold out of the mouse in the first day.
